Erased a post

I just wrote a whole post and erased it. Wasn't sure that it was "proper" enough to be posted...hahahaha.

In case you're wondering, it was about youth ministry in the United States and the pressure to perform as a youth minister. The pressure to provide results, even though you can't force people to do things!

Oh, the post was not brought on by any discontent in my job. A friend of mine called recently to tell me he was getting out of youth ministry because of the pressure.
In some ways, I understand. Some days, I think it would be easier to do a job where I could see tangible results.

At the same time, however, I'm sad. We've lost another good man. Oh, he won't leave the church or anything, but he has been wounded...wounded by family.

Encourage your ministers today, will you?

Let them know that you love them. Tell them that sometimes you get mad at them, disagree with them, think they're immature, don't see results from them, etc...but tell them YOU STILL LOVE THEM. That's family. That's what I believe God wants.

Good reminder, bro. I can't count how many times I've heard a minister say from the pulpit something like, "Don't forget to thank those who serve the church by being in the full-time ministry. Tell them you love them because they don't get to hear it enough."

I know that the brother is speaking about others who serve full-time with him. But I'm confident that, many times, he is speaking of himself. After that, there's that awkwardness of wanting to go up to him and thank him and tell him you love him, yet trying not to come across like I'm only doing it because he just preached it from the pulpit.

"I just wrote a whole post and erased it."

LOL!!! Man, I can't count how many times I've done that!

As a parent of a future teen and an ex paid youth minister, it scares me the number of good men that are leaving the calling of youth ministry. I believe most of them are leaving for the exact reasons you stated. I can tell you that being a youth minister's wife taught me 2 important things..1). Don't forget to show your appreciation to the ministers and pray for them DAILY and 2). Never assume there are enough people helping an activity. Be involved!

Brad and I love you both and repsect your commitment to helping guide young minds to follow Christ! Keep up the good work and may God Bless you and your family. I can't think of a more deserving family!

Hey Franklin, haven't connected with you in a good long while. I understand the frustration...I'm glad you're still carrying on. God bless.
